Who we are

Alamo Colleges Foundation is reshaping futures. As a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit and philanthropic arm of the Alamo Colleges District, our mission is to strengthen the Alamo Colleges' capacity to empower for success the diverse communities served by each of the Alamo Colleges. Our board and staff are committed to fulfilling a powerful vision: funding a Foundation scholarship for every eligible student who applies.

The Alamo Colleges Foundation, established in 1984, is charged with raising philanthropic funds to support scholarships, programs and to provide long-term sustainability by growing the endowment. The Foundation works with donors to provide life-changing gifts that help students come in and stay in to achieve their dreams of a college education. On average, more than 2,600 scholarships are awarded every year, totaling more than $27,000,000 since inception. Student scholarships are often the difference for students who face financial challenges and also make it possible for them to complete their educational goals.

Our goal is to raise funds to assist in a community-wide effort to end poverty in San Antonio through education, via scholarships, emergency support and a variety of other needs. Donors play a critical role in increasing access to education and providing greater social mobility in our community.

Each gift to the Alamo Colleges Foundation delivers strong returns, benefiting not only individual students, but also their families, future employers and communities.

In 2019-20 alone, the Alamo Colleges Foundation awarded over $1.9 million in scholarships to over 2,000 students. In addition to individual scholarships, gifts have also supported student emergency aid, adult education, continuing education/workforce development, student advocacy centers and more.
